I have 2 pumpkin vines that have been growing for about 2-2.5 months now. Both are only about a foot long though, and already flowering. Is this normal? The last time I grew pumpkins (jack-o-lantern type) the vines got much bigger before they put any flowers out. This time around, I'm trying sugar pumpkins. I'm not sure if there's a difference in the growth rate of the two species or not.....
Doesn't sound like they grew much. How big are the pumpkins? I grow small ones the size of baseballs but the vines are usually 12 feet long. Pick off the flowers, it will flower again, don't worry. Put some compost around where the roots would be. It is always good to put compost around when you are planting anything.
