Brain Disorders?

Posted at: 2014-06-09
Okay so I've been given an assignment in school to complete a full research paper on an organ and a disease in that organ. I chose brain. Now, I'm very interested in insanity, psychosis, etc... From what I gather, schizophrenia is what I need to be looking up. But the question here is: Would psychosis (or insanity, or madness, etc) be considered schizophrenia, or are any of those a disorder themselves? Thanks.
Insanity and madness are arcaich terms no longer used. Schizophrenia is ONE psychosis. Psychosis is singular, psychoses is plural, ergo more than one.
Im no doctor but i would think yes and no. You can be schizophrenic but you can also not be and have these problems. especially if you have alzheimer;s or if you have had a brain injury. But like i said you can have psychosis and be considered schizophrenic. I get the feeling i didnt help much. Sorry
