Sadly, you cannot straighten your hair without harming it, I myself (I have naturally curly hair) don't use heat even once a month, I am always tempted but I don't since I want my hair healthy! Maybe once every few months I straighten it and then it takes at least 3 months to get the moisture back. I usually just try to use the curls to my advantage and it usually keeps me away from using heat. If you are more proud of your natural hair you may be less tempted to use heat! Hope I helped! :)
I've never really understand what was so bad about using heat on hair, but I do have naturally straight hair. If you want to straighten your hair without heat, you should look up some methods on tumblr, wiki how or google. :D I have heard that you could put water and brown sugar in a spray bottle and spray it in your hair but I have never tried it. When I sleep in braids, my hair get frizzy and out of control so I put water on it in the morning to smooth it down (not sure if this will work with your hair :/ ).

Sorry but the best way to straighten is is to use heat. But you can always use a good heat protectant to help from damaging the hair.
