Reason behind &focus& classes?

I was flipping through a couple of brochures sent to me by community colleges offering summer school courses (I have to take Calculus 3 over the summer b/c they no longer offer it at my high school), and I found that the majority of the courses that were offered were complete jokes. For example, at least 3 separate offerings of "Women's Literature" and two of "Money and Women". My question is this: why are these colleges offering a multitude of "waste" classes catering to women/other interest groups instead of offering courses that actually matter/have practical applications in real-world scenarios?
I don't know. They seem like pretty useless classes overall. I suspect it's a supply-and-demand thing, and if women want to give their money to a college for a useless course that will be a waste of time, meh...not the college's problem. I hope to heck that my daughter never wants to take one of those courses though! What does anyone ever do with a degree in women's studies, anyway?
i am not sure but i know tat i just earned free points.
the reason is because increasingly more numbers of women are demanding classes that represent and are relevant to them, and since the numbers of men getting college educations is dropping and women are taking over, the traditional male-centred classes are actually the ones that are becoming "waste" :)
