I am writing a book for children that has a sports team in it. This is a sport that I have created that takes place on a field...a combination of football, basket ball, and soccer. I am not spots savvy at all, so I have some questions that would help me create the sports scenes. (some of the questions that I have asked, may not happen in the sports world, but i would like to get as close as possible.) ( i would like examples from contact sports like: football, baseball, soccer, or basketball...Not swimming or gymnastics) Does a playoff game determine who goes to the super bowl? Is the playoff game held right before the super bowl? if a player or players are caught cheating while on the field, what happens to the game? (Is a time out called right then and there? Is it announced in the stadium for all to hear?) When cheating has been observed on the field, what language is used to describe the cheating incident? What vernacular? what specific sports lingo or language is used? What might a conversation about a cheating incident in sports sound like? If cheating players are removed from the game, is the game postponed until the next scheduled game? (providing that there are no players to sub for the missing players). Are there any videos online where a coach or a manager is talking about what I've described above in reference the cheating team, their rivals and or both? Thank you for any help!
