i am doing a project in personal finance where i have to get the annual salary from a job,and then the monthly salary, but i don't know what i would like to do except for being a tattoo artist, and i realize that it is just a school project and it shouldn't matter, but it does. i also realize that tattoo artists make commission, but i really need the salary on it, or at least finding a salary for some other job in the category. please PLEASE help.
Don't think tattoo artists get a average salary their pay is pretty much on commission. When you get a tattoo usually so much goes to the shop and then so much goes to the artist. 1 of my tattoos I got from a family friend. When I made the appointment the guy didn't know I knew the artist and I told them what I wanted and they told me it was going to take 2 hours and cost $175. Then when I went in and saw my friend he did the tattoo and I assumed it was going to be $175 and when I was fixing to pay he said I'm doing it for shop price and only charged me $50. I then turned around and gave him great tip. That's another part of tattoo artists salary is tips. I always tip at least 20% if I'm happy with the work. Hope this helps you woth idea of what they make. So if they are really busy and booked alot they make pretty good money but if it's slow and they are not doing any tattoos they don't make much at all.
