What's wrong with my eye?! Weird black thread in vision?

Posted at: 2014-06-09
About 5 days ago I randomly developed this incredibly annoying black "thread" like thing in my vision. There is no noticeable thing on my eye... no black line, no redness, nothing... but it won't go away. It's not a blurry spot, it's just like a horizontal Y shaped black thread in my vision. I called my optometrist because I was worried but I couldn't get an appointment until next Wednesday which is basically a week away. It's just really annoying! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to relieve it in the meantime?? Anything to help make it less visible? I'll try anything. Thanks
That black squiggly thread you've got is called a Floater. Normally , when you move your eyes, the Floaters move with them. I had the same problem with my eye decades ago. My specialist told me they would probably develop in both eyes and they did. Don't worry . They are not life threatening and as you get older, you may get more. Something to do with the fluid in the eyeball. They're just an annoyance and half the time you only notice them in certain types of light. My son has them too. I am not an eye specialist but mine told me just about every one develops them. As you suggest, see your optometrist to make sure it is not a different problem.
That is a floater; a hemorrhage that is floating around in the vitreous. They are not specks; they look like a black ball of unwound yarn . While annoying, you will learn to ignore them. There is no cure but if you are old enough to have floaters, you are also in need of regular retinal health check-ups.
in a very worst case maybe a cataract, but i doubt it, it would cause discomfort...get professional help though dont let anyone give medical advice on yahoo answers.
