Why do some people say that I can't be an anesthesiologist if am doing it only for the money?

Every time you pick up a needle or a mask, you are taking someone's life into your care. Even before whatever operation begins, anesthesia can have serious side effects up to and including death which is why they have patients sign waivers every time it is needed. It requires constant monitoring and fine adjustments. With all that in mind, would you be comfortable turning your life over to someone who doesn't have a passion for the work and is just looking for a paycheck? Someone watching the clock instead of their gauges? There are other high paying medical jobs that don't have such permanent serious consequences if you aren't fully on your game. Perhaps you should look at them if you are only concerned about the cash.
Anyone who joins the healthcare field should care about people in general. Lots of people become doctors for the money, so you wouldn't be alone. Personally, I don't really think it's that ethically awful to join a career helping people for the money. Just try to put as much passion into your work as the next anesthesiologist. You're entering a specific field with very dangerous responsibilities. Good luck, and if you enter this field, donate a **** ton of money to RARE cancer research.
It helps to like what you do for a living butdoing it for the money is fine, just have hobbies you love on the side, best of luck in your career
