your ps3 finally overheated and cracked the solder. it's a common problem with the old, fat ps3s since Sony used a cheap thermal paste. combine that with the insane amount of heat those things generated, and you get that. sony will fix it for a price, or, if your warranty expired, you can do it yourself with your own thermal paste and a heat gun. the idea is that you use the heat gun on your gpu, which melts the solder so when it cools and hardens again, it "fixes" the cracks. it's called reballing, i think. re-flow is another way to do it, but it's a lot harder. i could be getting the terms mixed up, but the heat gun method is a common way of fixing the ps3. keep in mind it's not guaranteed, and even if it works, it might be temporary: when it did it for mine, it worked for about 1 minute. there are a lot of tutorials on youtube. good luck.
