Yes you can. Ive never worn tampons. Id aviod the water stuff.. you cant wear a pad once its wet, it absorbes all the water and will be heavy and thick.
if there is water involved you have to wear a tampon or at least something that inserts, take a look at diva cups/menstrual cups , I have never used them but heard they wont hurt as much as tampons because they are rubber.
Wear two pads for extra protection, one in front and one in back, making sure they are overlapping a little. Best advice I could give. Bring a change of underwear, pants, and extra pads just in case. And DO NOT go on any water rides.
