Student-run student orchestra?

Hello all, I have been trying to start a student-run chamber orchestra this year (8th grade), and there have been many struggles. The group, which consists of the top band students and the top string orchestra students in the school, started rehearsing in early January after school in the school's auditorium, the band room, or the science lab if we have to. Some friends and I came up with the idea to start one to play a few pieces for the talent show coming up and May and we found some musicians willing to practice two hours per week. Using Musescore (of course), I simplified an arrangement of Jurassic Park and we started practicing. It was quite tricky coordinating the string players with the louder band folks, and people not showing up to practice was a major problem too. Also, the group wants to plan to continue the chamber orchestra the following years, during High School. I know that the high school that we are going to is somewhat stricter, and as we are going to be freshmen, transportation to other practice venues would be tough. So, I've come here to ask this: 1. Does anyone have any tips on encouraging people to come to practice? 2. Are there any good arrangements of pieces suitable for a high school group on Musescore that may be of any interest to us? 3. Can anyone offer tips to help us find a good place to practice? Thank you, Maxwell Conte
