Hello, I am transitioning to my naturally curly hair from heat damage. I haven't used heat on my hair (other than for deep conditioning treatments) in almost 3 months! I shampoo only once/ month, and I have been cowashing twice/week. I also deep condition weekly! And after my washes, I generally follow up with either Kinky Curly leave-in or Giovanni's leave-in. However, during my last wash, I noticed a lot of breakage in the tub! I recently trimmed about 1-2 inches from my ends (although I do still have a few inches left of heat damaged hair), and I finger detangle gently on wet hair, followed a wide tooth comb. What am I doing wrong? I am trying so hard to follow all of the natural hair "rules", so still seeing breakage is discouraging :-( Any advice??
Are you sealing with an oil? Moisturizing daily? It is beyond important that you keep your natural hair moisturized everyday and then seal with an oil...olive, coconut, jbco...there are so many different ones. If you're not doing that everyday, start and make sure you don't need to add strength with a protein deep conditioner.
