I've been to Oakland and Berkeley before, but it's usually always to just hang out with friends at their places, with maybe a little walk to a coffee shop or store....i've asked them what cool attractions there are and they always just kind of shrug. There are a few experiences I've had. I've been to the Berkeley campus (years ago), but only hung out at the dorms at the time and maybe went to cafe roma, i've been to the bread bowl market in oakland (i think it's in oakland), i love philz coffee, i've been to essex tubs, I've heard that lake merrill is cool (but never been).... what attractions or things to do would you recommend?? personal recommendations only please. I'm not really into nightclubs right now, and i don't have kids to do strictly kid stuff. so those are out. What are some good must-see or must-do-at-least-once if in oakland and berkeley, and then also, what are some hidden you-know-you're-from-the-bay things to recommend.... nature, culture, food, a good stroll, fun areas, history, etc etc etc Thanks!
