Can I use a colored latex concrete stain over solvent based epoxy?

So I'm painting steps in a parking garage. I went to sherwin williams and showed the guy the pre painted epoxy painted steps, I wasnt sure if it was solvent based or other. The guy assured me the the solid color water based stain would be a good choice. So I bought 5 gallons. Later i found the guy that did the work previously on the steps and he said it was solvent based. So will the stain I purchased be ok?
The epoxy is a different chemical makeup altogether. The solvent in the latex paint or stain will not penetrate enough to get a molecular bond in the epoxy and won't stay. In fact it may make the steps slick in wet weather as the latex will absorb the moisture and lose any retentive property it may have developed.
Spot-test. But the solvent is gone from dried paint and has no influence on the cover.
