Let x = 0.47777... Then 10x = 4.77777... (I use 10x because only 1 digit repeats; use 100x if two digits repeat, 1000x if three repeat, etc) Subtract the first equation from the second 10x = 4.77777... - 1x = 0.47777... ------------------ 9x = 4.300000 so just 9x = 4.3 so x = 4.3/9, or 43/90
