So I'm in grade 12, I want to be an actor. I know it's a big task, and it's a very hard industry to get into. However I enjoy it and I want to take a 2-year Theatre Course at Grant Macewan University. My parents want me to take a "real" career, so I applied for Bachelor of Science, I already have conditional acceptance for BcS. However lately I've been so stressed out in scho, I'm in my last grade and I've been just so stressed out about my marks, and about getting into my Bachelor of Science. My question is, should I set aside all of my parents desires, and just go for what I love?
If its something that your sure you want to do and won't give up on than yes. Its your life you live it your parents can't live your life for you they will except it if you show them that your serious about acting and its something you really want to do. Goodluck.
you definitely should pursue your acting career if that's what you love. but like you said, it's a really tough field to succeed in and get recognized. so I do suggest you have a backup plan if things don;t go the way you planned. if you don't like science, find another "real" career that you like. maybe study psychology to understand how humans think, feel and at to certain things. it will even help you for your acting :)
