Auto is for automatic, you don't do it yourself. Autofocusing is done by a machine with some computer code. Optical refers to the eye. If you focus with your eye, it's not automatic. A bit of a problem there. The only combination of those words that make sense to me is with those new mirrorless cameras that track your eye as you look through the viewfinder. The camera automatically detects the area on the screen you are looking at and sets focus there. I don't know what its called but I was blown away by this when I handled my friend's Fujifilm X-Pro.
