Need to diagnose the problem &see if they are related &where the issue is at. Cant help you online with this, this needs to go to the Chevy Dealership or to a repair shop that knows what they are doing Can be an open in the harness inside the column or can be 2 different issues ¬ related. Usually SIR system connectors tend to cause "FRETTING" which is a type of corrosion that forms from the lack of connector ever being disconnected at all. Usually unplugging &reconnecting that affected connector can temporary fix that issue if that is indeed what is wrong with the SIR system. Has it ever been in a wreck in which the Air bags deployed?? Most people dont pay any attention to the melted connector on the clockspring
