Help with question?

I didn't get a response previously. Help would be appreciated greatly. My girlfriend is nearsighted. She doesn't wear glasses often (she's usually in her lenses), but when it does I always wonder why it looks like she's wearing two pairs of glasses simultaneously. Can someone take a look and provide an explanation. I can't really ask her because she's a little sensitive, and I'm just curious. http://imgur.com/KdJGTwd
Those lenses are called a myodisc lens. Not the best choice. The power is ground into the smaller area of a carrier lens to help reduce edge thickness. She must be way over - 12.00 diopters. They aren't used very often and are rather old fashioned. The choice of frame she has there was not a good one either , which tends to make them look even worse. Her frame is much too wide. Unnecessary width has to be avoided with powers like that , but an unexperienced person let her get those. There are ways to make them look much better than that.
