My dog chews her paws?

Posted at: 2014-06-09
Shes a 10 month old pitbull and her whole litter has demodex, which is puppy mange but shes been on 1.2 cc's of ivermectin daily orally for 3 months now (they upped the dosage recently from 1.0 cc). Can the demodex cause itchy paws? Or is this normal because she doesnt bite hard or really go at her feet she just calmly chews her paws and sometimes she even just lays there with her paw in her mouth without chewing. Its not a specific paw either, she just does it randomly. Shes my first dog so is this out of the ordinary? She only does it a few times a day, its not repeatedly.
High potential that it is the demodex. Just keep doing what your doctor tells you... Maybe see if you can give your dog a medicated bath so it can soothe the skin.
This could be related to food allergies. Read the ingredients of your puppy food. Does it contain wheat, corn, or other grains? These are common allergens. Try a better quality of food, but make the changeover very slowly.
