If your Japanese teacher is from an Asian country, than your class offended him with your lack of correct responses. It is a cultural difference between America and Japan. Your responses are a reflection of his teaching. He could have interpreted your incorrect responses as a lack of respect since it is considered shameful in Asian culture to give wrong answers. Japanese students would have been ashamed to give wrong answers.
