How to Protect Your Keratin Treatment at the Beach

Believe it or not, summer is actually right around the corner. So if you want to protect your Brazilian keratin hair straightening treatment and keep it from being damaged while frolicking at the beach, it’s essential that you take some preventative measures.

Before You Go in the Water

Both salt and fresh water can be harmful to your keratin treatment. So before you take a dip, wet your hair by showering with fresh water. This will keep your hair hydrated and make it less prone to absorbing salt and other compounds in the water.

Swimming in a pool also can be harmful to your keratin treatment. The chlorine that is used to keep pool water clean and clear can cause damage to your hair, especially if you spend a long time in the water.

At both the pool and the beach, limit our time in the water so you can minimize the damage it can cause to your hair. That way there will be less to fix later.

You also can use added protection by using a silicone-based hair product to prevent your hair from becoming parched.

After You Get Out

As soon as you get out of the water, use a comb to gently remove the tangles in your hair.

When you get home or back to your hotel room, wash it again with fresh water to re-hydrate your scalp and strands. Use lathering shampoo and conditioner to cleanse your hair.

If you want to keep that ocean smell out of your hair, use a product that includes a long-lasting fragrance ingredient. Otherwise, you run the risk of smelling like the ocean long after your beach day is done.

Getting the Most Out of Your Keratin Treatment

If you want your keratin treatment to last for a long time, you need to take preventative measures.

Keeping your hair healthy when you swim at the beach is essential to protect your Brazilian keratin hair straightening treatment. It also will prevent your hair from becoming damaged.
