Functions homework help, sketching a graph?

Sketch the graph of a transformed square root function f(x) = 3 (2x - 8) - 6 How do I do this? Thanks
I'm assuming that you know how to sketch the basic square root y = sqrt(x). For this, we can say f(x) = 3.sqrt(2x-8) - 6 f(x) = 3.sqrt( 2(x-4) ) - 6 Then the transformations are: 1. Dilation factor 3 from the x-axis 2. Dilation factor 1/2 from the y-axis 3. Translation 4 right 4. Translation 6 down Then you can sketch that.
