Help Sleep Paralysis?!?

Posted at: 2014-06-09
This morning I woke up but I couldn't move, I tried opening my eyes but I couldn't keep them open for longer then a couple seconds. Then there was a sound that sounded like a heavy wind. Luckly though after the sound was over I could move and I got up. I hope it doesn't happen again because that really sucked.
I can tell you that this is pretty much normal! In fact, almost everybody has sleep paralysis and it keeps us from acting out our dreams and possibly getting hurt. In your case your mind woke up while your body was still asleep. I think it's pretty cool and I would like to experience that myself.
Narcolepsy is a chronic, life-disrupting neurologic (involving the nerve cells and chemicals in the brain) disorder in which the brain is not able to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally.
To really get a handle on what happened, you may need to schedule an appointment with your doctor. If you don't want to make an appointment here's a 24 hour Medical Help Line that's free of charge! Registered Nurses are waiting to answer your call at 1-888-247-BLUE (2583). Please know that there are people who can and will help you with what you are going through. You may want to consider talking with a counselor at a hotline. There are many hotlines that are 24/7 and will work with you and your situation like yours. Some even have email and/or chat if you would prefer. Hopefully, you will continue to reach out! JS, Crisis Counselor
