Keratin Treatment – Vacation Tips for Your Hair

Beatiful Brunette Playing in the PoolIt’s that time of year again: Millions of people are heading off for their annual summer vacations.

Vacation time offers the perfect opportunity to spend time with family and friends, enjoy the great outdoors, and perhaps even cool off in the pool or by the water at the beach.

But if you recently had a Brazilian keratin hair straightening treatment performed on your hair, there are some summer tips that you need to know.

Keratin Treatment — Timing Is Everything

Generally, you are going to want to prevent your keratin-treated hair from getting wet for at least a few days after receiving your hair straightening treatment. So it’s probably not a good idea to go directly from the salon to the beach.

Swimming in fresh water, like that found in lakes and ponds, will not harm your keratin treatment. But if you are planning to swim in a saltwater ocean or a pool treated with chemicals like chlorine, both saltwater and chlorine can reduce the effectiveness of your keratin treatment.

If you are going to a pool or a saltwater ocean, all you need to do is to tuck your keratin-treated hair into a swimming cap. This will not only protect it from harmful chemicals and salt water, but it will also keep your hair dry.

Keratin Treatment —  Summer Hair Care

Summer is also the time of year when there tends to be the highest amount of humidity. For more women, this means an increased risk of frizzled hair.

But the good news is that if you have recently gotten a Brazilian keratin hair straightening treatment, even the most humid weather is unlikely to have any effect on the “frizz factor” of your hair.

So while other women are scrambling to find ways to control their out of control frizz in humid weather, you can enjoy the lush, luxurious straight hair that results from your keratin treatment.
