When I first started traveling my mother suggested I had to be very careful as foreigners would want to marry me just to become an American citizen. What an uninformed perspective. I suppose, if you hung out with only the uneducated, that could be the case, but on the contrary, if you are educated and you hang out with a similar crowd you will find that the majority of Brits as well as any Europeans will be curious about America, but in no way jealous. Life in Europe is different. There are different priorities and therefore different things are appreciated. Americans typically only begin to understand this when they've lived abroad for a while. Life in America and the UK have their pros and cons as in every country. Until you have experienced those lives it's all but impossible to say you would prefer one or the other.
